Weems Cemetery

Weems Cemetery at Wanda, Newton County, Missouri

This old cemetery is over 125 years old and many of the Newton County Weems family and their relatives are buried here.  Shown in the background is the Wanda United Methodist Church which was established in 1837 with the first services being held in the home of Jones Weems, who lived about a mile east of the site.  Many other Weems family members are buried at Macedonia Cemetery, Wanda Mo. Cemetery, and Newtonia I.O.O.F. Cemetery, all of which are in the vicinity.           Wanda, Missouri is now a ghost town.  All that remains are the cemetries, the church, and several families living nearby.
